Ledge Haven Farm is a family run dairy farm and maple syrup operation located near Lake Champlain and historic Mount Independence. We milk 240 Holstein cows. Our maple syrup is produced in the traditional manner using a wood fired evaporator and sap buckets.
Mike and Tom were born and raised on the "home"
farm just three miles away from Ledge Haven Farm. It was Grandpa
Ferland who first taught Tom and Mike the art of sugaring in the early
70's. Since then the sugarhouse has tripled in size. Improvements have
been made over the years, allowing for larger evaporators, a reverse
osmosis machine and gas finishing pans. Wood is still used to fire the
evaporator and the sugarhouse maintains it rustic charm.
To find us: Orwell is located at the southern end of Lake Champlain,
approximately 20 miles SW of Middlebury, 45 miles South of Burlington, and 32
miles NW of Rutland. At the intersection of Rt 73 and 22A, turn west.
After 1/4 mile, go straight at the Y. Go one mile..we are the first farm
on the right.
